More screen time is linked to poorer child development, study shows

Why it matters for parents: Looking across decades of research on nearly three million kids in 64 countries, scientists linked more screen time with poorer learning, speech and emotional regulation. The links were mostly small and can’t show cause, and the lead researcher’s first step is refreshingly doable: device-free dinners, or a regular time each day when the whole family puts devices aside.

EU announces plan to restrict social media access for under-15s

Why it matters for parents: The European Commission proposed keeping under-13s off social media, giving 13- to 15-year-olds limited “mini accounts” set up through a parent, and letting kids open their own accounts at 15. It still needs approval and won’t happen overnight, but if you’re waiting on social media, you’re in good company.
